April has seen mixed results for City, with a record of three wins and the same number of losses. Fantastic displays against Hamburg in the second leg of the UEFA Cup and away at Everton have provided some memorable highlights for the Blues’ faithful, but disappointments against Arsenal and especially Fulham marred what would have otherwise been a quite successful period for Mark Hughes’s side.

Man City’s crest: ‘Superbia in Praelia’ – although the Latin should really say ‘Superbia in Praelio’
Below, I will list three candidates who, I believe, have contributed …

Stephen Ireland has come a long way from his Manchester City debut when he came on for Joey Barton during a 1-0 loss against Bolton in September 2005. He is now one of the best players at a club whose future is a combination of excitement and intensity.

What Ireland has managed to do this season is perform at a high level consistently, meaning he has completely over shadowed Brazilian Robinho and even been tipped to win the club’s player of the year. His development as a player is actually unbelievable.

He now …

This blog is designed to choose the greatest ever Manchester City player in my opinion (remember I am only young!). I shall publish one of these every now and again until finally we reach the best player ever to have embraced Maine Road or The City of Manchester Stadium!

Paul Dickov!
1996 - 2001, 2006 – 2007 >>>172 games – 33 goals.

Man. City. Won. Away. – Honestly.
A hugely impressive performance from City on Saturday afternoon gave them a fully deserved three points and only a second away victory of the season. Mark Hughes saw his side at their very best, with sensational performances from the whole team and Stephen Ireland and Robinho in particular. Goals from the afore-mentioned duo, along with an injury-time consolation from Everton starlet Dan Gosling gave the scoreline the look of a competitive match, but the final result more than flattered the Toffees, who were left with a sour taste …

Manchester City were eyeing a repeat of the performance against Sunderland (their only away win of the season). I went into the game predicting a 2-0 loss, but the blue boys amazed me with their team ethic and work rate. I’ve not really got too much to say, other than well done chaps!

HERE ARE MY PLAYER RATINGS FROM THE GAME  >>>
Shay Given (GK)- Shay didn’t put a foot wrong all game, wasting some valuable seconds at the end and making a smart save from the giant Fellaini after half-time which probably kept us in …

After a less than convincing victory against bottom of the table West Brom, Mark Hughes’s Manchester City make the short trip to Merseyside to face an Everton side brimming with confidence after reaching the FA Cup final. They defeated City’s bitter rivals, Manchester United, on penalties in the semi’s, before gaining a wonderful point in their previous match against their cup-final opponents, Chelsea. On the other hand, the recent results of the side from Manchester have been far from impressive, especially on the road, with just a solitary victory on their …

Niall Quinn
219 appearances, 77 goals in a 6 year spell  from 1990 – 1996:)
Niall Quinn was a player idolised by fans during a six-year spell in Manchester.
First impressions were of a tall, gangling sort of striker but …

How can it be possible for a team to have such varying degrees of form at home and on the road? It’s just not what you expect from a Premiership club. Consistently good at home and consistently poor away isn’t quite what i’m looking for in City, with stars like Robinho, Ireland ever-present. This season we still have to travel to Everton, United and Tottenham and to be frank I can’t see the number of our away wins leaping above the one we have already, especially seeing that the three teams mentioned above have beaten …

An entertaining match at the City of Manchester Stadium on Sunday resulted in a 4 – 2 victory for the home side, a scoreline, which, without doubt, flattered the Blues. West Brom belied their lowly league position to trouble City on umpteen occasions and were, in my humble opinion, well worth a point. Goals from Robinho, Nedum Onuoha, Elano and Danny Sturridge meant City scored at least four goals at home for the third time this season, whilst a brace from Northern Irish international Chris Brunt was not enough for the Baggies …

 Shaun Wright-Phillips
1999-2005, 2008-present – 216 appearances, 45 goals.

What’s not to love about the little fella? He’s back, where he belongs and with that we make a profit of £13million, so I’m not complaining, best of both worlds! He’s an exciting player and you …
