Maybe I should complain about the lack of transfer activity more often! After the lacklustre affairs of last week, in which the major news was the release of the fixture list, the past seven days have seen two arrivals, one departure, one more departure to be settled by a tribunal, and the promise and expectation of more signings. This past week has been nothing short of captivating!

After a less than pulsating previous week in the transfer market, Man City seem to have sprung into action. Following the arrival of Gareth Barry from Aston Villa, the Blues have confirmed the signing of Paraguayan striker Roque Luis Santa Cruz Cantero from Blackburn after the forward passed a medical at Eastlands yesterday afternoon, and there is a high probability that Manchester United glamour-boy Carlos Tevéz will join as well.
The deal was confirmed on City’s official club website at 5.22pm yesterday and it is believed that the Blues parted with over £17 …

There are times, when, despite being the richest club in the world, City have to take a back seat in transfer news, and this week has been a prime example of that. It is often said that a week is a long time in football, and this was certainly the case with Manchester City during the past seven days or so. There have been rumours galore, with gossip-mongers creating more havoc than Joey Barton at a Christmas party. Influential captain Richard Dunne, a four time winner of the club’s player of the year award, has been linked with a £5 million move to either Stoke or Tottenham, whilst Brazilian superstar Robinho, only signed last summer from Real Madrid, has revealed that it would be …

So, with the season having ended with the mighty Blues finishing in tenth place, it seems the right time to review the performances over the whole campaign of the players. Please remember that these are only my opinions so if you disagree at all with any of them, then please add your comments at the bottom of the page.

I return from my self-imposed blogging exile with news of an exciting new signing for the Blues, a possible new arrival on the management side, and two stories of imminent departures, one permanent and the other temporary. During the close season, I will be providing this weekly update with the most recent news from City, hopefully with some transfer activity and other general stories of interest. It would be of great help if you could give me some feedback at the end, and comment if you think anything could be improved …
